After the war, Gailey reached the city of Impal. She stood on a busy street corner, her dirty red hair was soaked. Her tattered clothes were torn and shredded. Her bare legs and arms were covered in black ash and soot. She looked like a poor beggar woman.
Gailey just stood on the street corner looking out across the intersection with a blank stare. In the middle of this wide intersection was a circle of fenced in grass and a clock tower in the middle. The limestone clock shown the time of 4:10. Cars passed the intersection though she didn't see them and kept staring towards the clock.
Legato, wearing his tattered cloak, walked up to Gailey. He had no idea that she would be standing there though he knew he had to goto that particular place. He didn't know how he knew this, only that it was important. With his hood over his face he kept his eyes on the ground so that others wouldn't be afraid of his face if they had happen to catch a glimpse of it.
He stood beside her waiting to cross the street. Something in his mind told him to look at the female next to him. Turning his head slightly he saw the crimson red hair. His heart stopped seeing that it was Gailey. Just as he noticed her, a car ran into another car which started a chain reaction of cars and trucks slamming into each other. A semi started to stop suddenly on the wet pavement but lost control and headed straight for Gailey.
Legato quickly grabbed Gailey around her waist and jumped high up in the air. Landing on the edge of a three story building's roof. Legato set Gailey down only to find that she had passed out. He quickly took off his cloak and wrapped it around her.
After a moment he saw a small shed to shelter them from the rain. He picked up her small frame with ease and carried her into the shed. There was a blanket already spread out on the floor where he laid her down on. After making her comfortable Legato decided it would be best to sit in the corner of the shed to keep watch over her. His mind was racing with curious thoughts about how she lost her clothes, why he sensed her and what he was going to do once she woke up. He had to leave for his ship in the next few days. But he couldn't leave Gailey in this condition either.
As Gailey just lay there sleeping, Legato started thinking about the past he has had with her. His thoughts start going from the first time he met her to the time he had last seen her. Which was before the war of a decade long. As he sat there staring at her crimson hair he was reminded of the duties he has had that kept himself away from the only one who has given him salvation in his tormented soul. Gailey was his light in all the darkness, his north star. Some how he has always found her. 'Was it fate?' He thought 'or just a mere chance. A coincedance of being in the same place, or was she following me. How does she always remain in my thoughts.' His curiosity grew until he heard a loud thundering noise.
Jumping to his feet quickly he looked around at the walls curiously. Then the thundering noise came again only this time it was on the roof with him. Right outside the door to the shed. Legato stood in the open door way staring at the beast. His hair waved behind him which made his mask clearly seen and his eyes started glowing green. After a brief moment of both of them staring at each other. The black dragon spoke, "I am here for her." His tone was stern.
"You have to go through me first." Legato replied in a low tone as he was ready to fight. Just as he spoke to the dragon, his scythe appeared in his hand.
"I wish you no harm, boy. Step out of my way!" The dragon was more stern this time as he extended his razor like claws to let Legato know that he was in for a fight if he continued to fight him. The dragon's intentions were not to harm Gailey at all but Legato didn't know this.
"She will die if I don't take her right now." The dragon stepped forward.
Legato thought about what he said and remembering something about Gailey saying that her true family were the dragons. He stepped aside and exclaimed with a glare, "You must take me with you! I don't trust..." The dragon interrupted, "You humans are all alike. Very well then, hang on." The dragon picked up Legato and tossed him on his back. Legato gracefully landed on the black dragons back just before the dragon took off. Gailey was well protected in the arms of the dragon as Legato was using all his strength to hang onto his scales.
The dragon went straight up and above the clouds where the sun beamed down on them. Although the dragon didn't reduce his speed at all, Legato was able to hang onto him while watching where he was. In the distance was an opening through the clouds where you could see the ground below. Legato looked through the hole to try and catch a glimpse of where they were, but the sight he saw confused him. It was water below and not land as he had expected to see. Not only was there water but he could see his ship sailing in the middle of the ocean. The part that struck Legato the most is that he was on that ship just a mere week ago. While he was on the ship he looked up to the sky and through the hole only to see a dragon pass by. He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him at the time and dismissed it. It was then when he had this urge to get to the city of Impal. The dragon swooped down under the clouds making Legato lose his thought for a moment. 'How are we going back in time?' His thoughts raced before he saw his Island pass by under them. Once again, he was on his Island before he had even set sail and looking up to the sky to see the black dragon. When he saw this dragon on his island he felt he had to sail and gathered everyone to set sail immediately. More confusing too him is that it was the same dragon that he had seen. As Legato started to freak out a little, the dragon dashed faster towards the mountains on the mainlands. 'Where are we going?' He thought in his mind as the dragon rolled over onto his back. Legato was able to run around the dragons body as he turned. Now sitting on the dragons chest with Gailey the dragon spoke to him as if the dragon knew what Legato had been thinking all along, "This is how we survive, Legato. From all humans. We teleport, travel in time and most of the time we help out the humans. Dispite their arrogance and stupidity." The dragon entrusted Legato with this knowledge because he knew Gailey loved him. But at the time Legato never knew Gailey loved him. He only knew that he wanted to care for her and protect her.
"Hold onto Gailey. She will need you." The dragon sensed that Gailey was about to wake up. Legato did as the Dragon asked and picked up Gailey in his arms, holding onto her tightly. Tears fell down Legato's cheeks but he never had feelings. He knew he can't feel for anyone or anything. Even love he couldn't feel anymore. It was like he was numb to it all. But, 'Tears?' He thought to himself. 'Why am I crying?' He looked to Gailey and her beautiful crimson hair which accented her pale skin. Legato thought she was human which is what Gailey wanted him to think. She always hid her true self from him because she loved him more than anything. In the past where she loved someone and revealed her true self to them. They hated her and became afraid. From then on she made it a rule that she never was to reveal herself again.
The dragon, while still on his back, swooped down and entered a cave that was at the base of one of the highest peaks. Legato knew where they were because he was in the mountains before he went home, tracking down Louis. Although in that moment he didn't see the dragon in his past. He just heard a loud scream that seemed to be his own. Just as soon as he remembered a scream of his own voice he realized that something bad was about to happen. But it was too late. Gailey was awake and staring hungrily at him. She grinned at him showing him her fangs just before she quickly jumped up and bit Legato's neck. Legato screamed very loud in terror. His voice echoed in the cave which made the sound even louder once it had escaped the cave. After a moment, he looked towards his neck only to find the dragons shiney tip of his tail against it. The tail tip looked like a huge razor blade in the shape of an extremely large arrowhead. Gailey had stopped before reaching to bit the dragon. She was staring at her reflection in the dragon's tail tip. It was fading from her human form to her vampire form to her true form. Gailey became confused and passed out again.
"That was a close one, human. You better watch yourself next time she wakes up." Legato just sat there with Gailey still in his arms in a shocked look. The dragon's tail was gone now and Gailey was asleep once more. The dragon started to slow down, "Lay down!" He shouted to Legato. Legato wrapped Gailey in his arms and laid flat upon the dragons chest. The dragon wrapped his arm around both of them before going down into a hole. He went faster this time and headed straight for the molten lava. Legato didn't know what was going on but knew that they would be safe. With his other arm, the dragon, punched through the crust of the lava. Just after he punched through it he wrapped his other arm around the two that were on his chest. Gailey and Legato were now completely covered by the dragons enormous arms.
After spending some time swimming through the molten lava, the dragon bursted out of a volcano and straight into the ocean to cool himself off before he opened his arms. After swimming around the island where he had just came out of the volcano at, he bursted out of the water and landed in the middle of his village. He placed Legato and Gailey on the ground in front of him before he shook all over to get the water off his scales.
